Society no longer believes that sustainability, green and a zero carbon footprint are just industry buzzwords. It is now an expectation of how we live our lives and apply those principles in everything we do. Sustainability, at its most basic concept, is simply using resources wisely to meet our current needs while preserving the ability of future generations to meet their needs. While this seems a simple concept, there are many avenues companies and individuals can take to promote and achieve it.
At Hoar we recognize and embrace the benefits of sustainability, particularly sustainable design and construction. We are committed to raising awareness of sustainability issues while fostering a culture of environmental stewardship. We achieve this by having a focus on promoting conservation of resources on jobsites, in our offices and in our personal lives. It is simply another aspect of being good stewards of the resources we are entrusted with, which is one of our core values.
We promote sustainable quality of life improvements for our clients, our communities and ourselves through education and active participation in sustainability initiatives and organizations. Hoar has provided preconstruction, construction and program management services on a number of LEED and anticipated LEED projects. We have a collaborative approach on each project by engaging the client, design professionals, consultants, subcontractors and other project team members.
To enhance our efforts, we pursue training for our staff members and encourage them to seek LEED accreditation. We also pursue improvement through involvement in local and national organizations whose interests are focused on pursuing energy reduction, minimizing impacts on natural resources, enhancing conservation practices and promoting an ecological balance. We staff each project with professionals who have the skills to recognize sustainable opportunities and employ effective and successful solutions to such challenges. Our desire is to provide value to our clients through the knowledge and expertise gained by being a leader in the Green Building Industry. We help our clients by making sustainability make sense, especially as it relates to the bottom line.
