The Lakeshore Foundation is a 127,000 square foot, two-story facility that includes a natatorium with two pools, a field house with three basketball courts and a 200-meter track around the perimeter, a fitness and aerobic center, an air-weapon shooting range, classrooms, a sports science lab, administrative suites, and all ancillary services. A structural steel canopy at the front entrance is supported with a cable system and covered with translucent roof panels. The main lobby has a maple paneled radius wall and features a 30 foot curtain wall system overlooking a natural area. The Field House has a clear span of 154 feet and required 8’-6” bar joists that had to be field spliced and hoisted in tandem. The Natatorium has a clear span of 124 feet. The span is created by steel trusses fabricated with rolled steel members to create a barrel roof structure.
