Rob Burton of Hoar Construction Receives Cornerstone Award from Associated Builders and Contractors

Birmingham, AL – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Alabama presented Rob Burton of Hoar Construction the 2011 Cornerstone Award at the Excellence in Construction Banquet on Thursday night, November 10, 2011. According to ABC, this award is “presented to an individual who has made an exemplary lifelong commitment to Alabama Construction and has brought favorable recognition to the industry as a result of his personal integrity, business ethics and community involvement.”

ABC president Jay Reed says, "The essence of this award is that it goes to someone that has a commitment to the construction industry and has changed it for the better as well as working for a better community overall.”

Mr. Burton began spending his summers working at Hoar Construction when he was 13 years old. Under Mr. Burton’s leadership the company has grown to over $500 million in annual construction volume and an additional $300 million+ in managed work, making it one of the leaders in the industry. It has also been recognized for five consecutive years as one of the best medium sized companies to work for in America, one fo only two contractors in the country to receive that designation.

Hoar Construction is a recognized leader in the use of technology in construction, and is utilizing those tools at landmark projects such as the new Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama and the expansion of Fantasyland in Disney World, Orlando, Florida.
