Hoar Construction Breaks Ground on Stonebridge in Midlothian, VA

Birmingham, AL - Hoar Construction recently participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for Stonebridge, a new retail development on the site of the former Colverleaf Mall in Midlothian, VA. Hoar Construction will provide general construction services for Phase 1 of this multi-phased mixed use project that will include retail, office and multi-family residential components. Located at the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway in Chesterfield County, Virginia (Richmond MSA), the development will be anchored by a 123,000 square foot Kroger supermarket and will include a Kroger fuel station.

Situated on 28.5 acres, Phase 1 is being developed by Crosland Southeast and Hutensky Capital Partners. Site work including demolition of existing buildings began in mid-October. Besides Kroger, phase one includes 20,000 square feet for additional retail shops and four outparcels. Phase 2, which is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2012 will contain an additional 150,000 square feet of retail. The residential component will follow.

James Downs, a partner with Crosland Southeast, says Hoar Construction is “well suited to take on the Stonebridge project”. Hoar is the company that did the demolition of the Hampton Coliseum mall in Hampton, VA as part of its conversion into Peninsula Town Center, an open-air shopping area.
