Hoar Construction to Receive National Excellence in Construction Awards

Birmingham, AL – Hoar Construction, LLC will receive awards for two projects from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) at a ceremony during their national convention in San Diego in February. The Annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony honors the nation’s highest-quality construction projects and safety programs. Award winners demonstrate leadership, innovation and safety in the construction industry.

Hoar will be presented an Eagle Award for the West Florida Hospital Reskin Phase II project in Pensacola, FL. After this 500 bed hospital facility sustained a considerable amount of damage from Hurricane Ivan, the existing exterior walls were demolished and replaced to meet building envelop missile impact ratings as established by Miami-Dade County Building Code requirements. A new structural steel framing skeleton and EIFS skin was constructed outside the existing exterior wall. The project also included upgrades to nurse stations, hospital corridors and patient rooms as well as to an additional building on campus.

Hoar’s Program Management Division will receive a Pyramid Award for Construction Management Services on the West Campus Dining Facility at Auburn University. This project is a 36,000 square foot brick, glass, and precast clad steel frame structure containing a kitchen, coffee bar, convenience store, grille, two serving areas, and seating for 600 patrons. It supports The Villages, a new 1,700 bed student housing complex that was also a Hoar construction management project.
