Hoar Construction Selected for Project at Biloxi VA Hospital
Birmingham, AL – Hoar Construction, LLC was recently selected by the Department of Veterans Affairs to construct a 161,000 square foot clinical addition to the VA Hospital in Biloxi, MS. The 4-level addition is adjacent to an active inpatient / outpatient surgical hospital facility and will connect to the existing hospital on all 4 occupied levels. The new structure includes strengthened structural and architectural elements for blast and hurricane protection. The Clinical Addition will add 4 operating rooms, 20 patient rooms, and 7 ICU rooms to the capacity of the existing hospital. Also included is new space for ambulatory surgery, pulmonary medicine, an eye clinic, specialty care, oncology, audiology and speech pathology, urology, and dermatology departments.
The project includes renovations on all four floors of the existing hospital to reconfigure the existing operations to compliment the new addition. The renovation work will be completed in several phases to ensure the overall functionality of the hospital’s existing operations is not compromised. The project also includes sitework, roadway improvements and parking.
