Working safe is part of Hoar’s moral and cultural character. Working safe is also working smart. What does this mean?
An Experience Modification Rate ( EMR ), based on a company’s worker’s compensation insurance history, determines worker's compensation insurance premiums. The lower the historical injury rate, the lower the EMR and the better the rate. With the baseline national average at 1.0, Hoar's EMR is .77, low for the industry. Proving that safety pays its own dividends, Hoar's insurance premiums are half what some contractors pay.
OSHA requires companies to maintain
"recordable incident rates" which
measure the number of accidents in which
a worker injured today cannot return to
work tomorrow. The national average is
6.4 accidents for each 100 employees
working 40-hour weeks for a full
calendar year. Hoar's rate of 2.33 is almost one third of the national average for the construction industry.
