Main  About Us  History

Hoar Construction was established in 1940 by Mr. F.R. Hoar in Birmingham, Alabama. The company’s initial construction projects were small, but after years of steady growth, the decision was made to expand into the commercial and industrial markets of the industry. This development proved to be a successful move for Hoar Construction. The company was presented with exciting new opportunities and challenges as the client base grew. Office buildings, schools and retail shopping centers became the focus of our business. Further growth led to the establishment of the Healthcare Division in 1991, the Texas Division in 1997, the Florida Division in 1998 and the Tennessee Division in 2001. As the company’s reputation for building quality projects and having honest, experienced management teams began to grow, Hoar Construction quickly became known as a national leader in the construction industry.

Since its incorporation, Hoar Construction has steadily grown to become a full-service, nationwide general contractor. The company was founded on principles of honesty and integrity; those values remain evident today in everything we do. We recognize that our employees are the strength of the company, and we believe their attitude and commitment to the relentless pursuit of improvement are the reasons we continue to be a

leader in the industry. The Hoar Construction family is committed to providing value to every client, and we have earned a strong reputation for our responsiveness, efficiency, and quality workmanship. We have a repeat business rate of 85% with our clients who are doing additional projects, and contribute that client satisfaction rating to our belief in honesty, professionalism and the teamwork approach.

Today, under the leadership of Robert O. Burton, Hoar Construction’s staff of 640 full-time employees works from headquarters in Birmingham, regional offices in Nashville, Houston and Orlando, and from project sites across the country. The company operates throughout the United States as a distinct leader and provider of construction management, general contracting, program management, preconstruction and design/build services. With a construction volume of approximately $600 million and managed work in excess of $300 million annually, the firm provides a variety of services to retail, institutional, healthcare, commercial, industrial, and hospitality clients.
