Training

Hoar Construction believes it makes good business sense to invest in our employees. Hoar University, the company's primary organized resource for professional and personal development, is part of that investment program. Many of Hoar University's instructors are experienced experts from outside the company, while others are from within the company.

Each employee, from front-line field superintendents to home office managers, follows a tailored job-related curriculum. For example, in the project management curriculum, students can expect to study business planning, standard forms of agreement, negotiations with architects and owners, computer systems, cost projection, construction ethics and laws, shop drawings, conflict resolution and subcontract negotiations. Each individual will also pursue electives to help advance his or her skills to move forward in the company and develop as a person. Electives can include such topics as stress-management, time-management, negotiation, public speaking and presentation skills.

Hoar University offers everyone the potential to energize his or her professional expertise; learn additional skills to improve the process and product; grow as a person and as an employee; and prosper with the company.

Hoar has also established a Leadership Council where selected employees participate in a two-year intensive curriculum emphasizing leadership skills. Monthly training is held in small round-table sessions with company leaders and outside experts.

Hoar’s training program is an investment that pays dividends for everyone. Employees grow professionally and personally, adding to their job satisfaction, and the company gains by having skilled employees who are highly qualified to provide the services our clients expect.
